Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00183

We are experiencing the same error message encountered in the SRs 38-1023374721
38-1712568631. We have verified that the path specified in the file system is correct. We are using only 1 siebel server in a Windows environment.

We are facing this issue in our dev environment only. The environment was working fine for a period of time before we encountered this problem.

Please advise as to any alternate parameters we can verify besides the Siebel File System parameter of the File System Manager Component.

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other readers:

The Customer was experiencing some Siebel Version 7.8.2.x "File System" error behavior, in particular with the *FSM* File System Manager Server Component.

Following on from our research, I discovered that the Customer needed to set this DSFileSystem Parameter Setting for the Server Data Source "ServerDataSrc" as written into this Siebel Version 7.8.2.x Bookshelf > Siebel System Administration Guide Chapter 10: Application Object Manager Administration > About Siebel Application Object Manager Parameters > About AOM Named Subsystem Parameters > Table 24. Selection of Named Subsystem Parameters :

DSFileSystem ServerDataSrc String Set this parameter to *FSM* to allow the use of the File System Manager server component for standard Web clients. We also discovered that this DSFileSystem Parameter setting is now a part of the "Advanced" Object Parameter settings. From within the Siebel Version 7.8.2.x Enterprise Application Server Configuration Screens, you need to set these "Show Advanced Objects" Parameters to TRUE. Additional information can be acquired from reading through the Siebel Version 7.8.2.x Bookshelf > Siebel System Administration Guide > Chapter 6: Configuring Siebel Servers > About Siebel System Parameters > About Advanced Parameters :

Parameters that affect or modify advanced product functionality are, by default, hidden from the Server Manager GUI.

<Continued ...>

Message 2

To make advanced parameters visible, make sure the component-level parameter Show Advanced Objects (alias ShowAdvancedObjects) is set to TRUE for the server component Server Manager (alias ServerMgr) on the Siebel Server you want to see the advanced parameters for. The default value for this parameter is FALSE.

However, once we had set this "ShowAdvancedObjects" Parameter setting from "FALSE" to "TRUE", we were still unable to actually see these DSFileSystem and DSMaxFetchArraySize Parameter Settings from within the Siebel Version 7.8.2.x Enterprise Application Server Component "Call Center Object Manager" Parameter Settings. I therefore raised Product Defect Change Request Number 12-1CG9TS3 to have this matter investigated further.

Symptoms

Customer is connected to application in thick (srf in local and db in server) client but cannot reach a tab under Administration Product > Product Definitions > Then select a Product Workspace > Constraints.

If they try to open the tab following message is popped up:
Cannot load rule function table. Plese check if file system directory for cache file is valid or not. Please contact your system administrator.(SBL-CFG-00183)

What is the reason for this error?

Cause

Issue is only reproducible if Siebel File System was accessed through File System Manager.

Solution

The issue has been reproduced internally with the following configuration in the CFG file for the dedicated client:
[ServerDataSrc]
...
FileSystem               = *FSM*
GatewayAddress           = localhost
EnterpriseServer        = ent78
....

[InfraObjMgr]
RequestServerName        = SiebSrvr1

--> attachments are working correctly and are handled via File System Manager component (*FSM*). However upper error message pops up if the Contrain tab is tried to be opened.

If the file system was specified like:
FileSystem               = C:\ses78\siebfs\att

--> both attachments and constraints are working correctly.

Issue is only reproducible if Siebel File System was accessed through File System Manager.

Change request #10528383 was logged to address this issue:
Siebel eConfigurator directly writes to the file system folder. This works with single file system but will not work for FSM. A new parameter "eProdCfgCacheFS" is introduced in V 7.8.2.x/8.x to specify alternative FS location. This will handle eConfigurator issues with File System Manager without disturbing normal attachment handling.

Workaround:
File System needs to be specified with a path. However if Siebel File System resides on a UNIX server customer needs a cross-platform NFS file system mounting tool to connect from Siebel Dedicated Web Clients running on Windows machines.

Symptoms

We have extended table S_PROD_ITEM addaing a new column X_WLC_PKG_PROD_ID with Foreigh Key table S_PROD_INT

On The BC Product Bundle we have created this field, and a (left outer) join to s_prod_int on this field. we have then joined name from s_prod_int through this join. on this field we have set a picklist (based on internal product bc) created a pickmap. Finally we have added this field onto the "Product Bundle List Applet" with a pick applet alos based on internal product.

When trying to pick anything through this applet, the underlying bc "product bundle" becomes read only, and an error occurs ( we are never allowed to pick the product).
"An operation was attempted which is illegal with model version zero. This is an internal Siebel Product Configurator error. Please report it to your Siebel Administrator.(SBL-CFG-00168)"

Cause

BUG 10548452

Solution

For the benefit of other users:

Implementing customer objects into the standard application reproduced the error and read only behavior.
It was found out that using the Internal Product as the Business Component for a picklist used by the Product Bundle BC causes this behavior.
Using a copy of the Internal Product instead resolved the behavior.
Change request 10548452 has been logged for this defect.

SBL-CFG-00230: RootProductId is required for Link Item Manager, and it is not provided.

Applies to:

Siebel eConfigurator - Version: 8.1.1 SIA [21111] and later   [Release: V8 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When running the web service ProductConfiguration and Load operation for a complex product with the remote product configurator you get the following error:

Begin: Business Service 'Configurator Service' invoke method: 'GetLinkItemValues'
SBL-CFG-00230: RootProductId is required for Link Item Manager, and it is not provided.

Cause

The GetLinkItemValues method of the business service Configurator Service does not contain the RootProductId in the input property set when the remote product configurator is enabled. This happens when the vanilla workflow ConfiguratorWebChannelBeginConfig step Begin Configuration is run. The property set is correctly populated when remote product configurator is disabled and running the web service ProductConfiguration and Load operation.

Solution

Add the following two scripts to the business service Configurator Service in Tools and recompile the business service into the SRF and it fixed the problem. It sets a profile attribute with the value of the property Product Id when the GetProductId method is called and then uses this profile attribute to set the property RootProductId when the GetLinkItemValues method is called.

A new Change Request # 12-1YDF0C1 was created to document this problem.

Function Service_PreInvokeMethod (MethodName, Inputs, Outputs)
{
if (MethodName == "GetLinkItemValues")
{
Inputs.SetProperty("RootProductId", TheApplication().GetProfileAttr("RootProductId"));
}
return (ContinueOperation);
}

function Service_InvokeMethod (MethodName, Inputs, Outputs)
{
if (MethodName == "GetProductId")
{
TheApplication().SetProfileAttr("RootProductId", Outputs.GetProperty("Product Id"));
}
}

This script is given as an example and will need to be tested fully before implementing.

Hi,

We are experiencing some problems with models in eConfigurator when adding a group of products from different classes in a model under a Class or Dynamic Class domain, without specifiying class (in order to group products from different classes, bookshelf Product Administration Guide, chapter "Adding a Group of Products from Different Classes" )

A customizable product which contains a domain with products from different classes, works itself, but if this CP is a component of other different CP, this CP doesn't work. The error is the following (part is in spanish) :
      "Error al obtener un nuevo trabajador"
      "Error muy grave al completar el modelo"
      "Excepción 44 en módulo de trabajador:
       "Catalog did not build. Possible model inconsistency"

Curiously, this error appears only if one of the customizable products contain a rule. Of course, if you specify a class in the relationship, the CP´s work as well.

The same design of these customizable products works in eCommunications v.7.5.2.211 ENU, without errors.
We are using eCommunications v.7.5.2.214 ESN. So the only difference may be the language.

Can you help us?

Thank you in advance.

For the benefit of others:

Behavior:

When the following stucture exist for a CP, (customizable product) (which also contains nested CP as in CP 2 below):

CP 1
|-------CP 2
             |-----------Prod A
             |-----------Prod B

And product A & B belong to two different classes, and there is a rule in CP 2 (say, Prod A excludes Prod B),

Upon validating CP 1, the following error message is invoked:

Error getting new worker
Fatel error completing model
Exception 44 in worker Module
Catalog did not build. Possible Model inconsistancy.

Resolution:

The above behavior was determined to be a product defect and Change Request 12-FTALD3 has been submitted to address it.

we are running eConfigurator on 7.5.3.2 and had some custom templates that exposed child product attributes on the parent product's user interface. As many of you know, this requirement and customization is very common. They then upgraded to 7.5.3.500 (standard interactivity mode), and this customization stopped working. The error they recieve when navigating to a screen that tries to do this is

'Customizable Product Runtime Internal Error in function CSSCfgUIService::GetAttributes. Error Dump: Got NOTOK.(SBL-CFG-00175)'

We tried this with a much simpler template that I created for another client and on 7.5.3.400 and recieved the same error

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of others:

The issue has been reproduced in the house as a defect and CR 10474922 has been logged to report the issue. Basically, for the all the product that is using custom template, the product is not showing in the validation mode in version 7.5.3.4 or later with attribute.

The Workaround of the issue is to create the user properties for the entire grand child attribute. Configurator engine will not be able to provide detail info in the UI if the grandchild attribute is not created for all the relationships that is using custom template in version 7.5.3.4 or later version. The fix is available in version 7.5.3.6 with additional configuration steps which are mentioned below:

To do so, find out the names of all the relationships where the custom templates are used. once it is done, go to (7.5.3.6 SIA) Go to UI Property Designer. Under the Groups, for each of the groups that reference any of the relationships using custom template, create UI properties of the following form:
a.    Name: MultiChildrenPort, Value: <name of Relationship>
b.    Name: MultiChildrenPort1, Value: <name of Relationship>
c.    Name: MultiChildrenPort2, Value: <name of Relationship>
          d.    And so on...

Once these additional changes are made, once you validate the product, you will see them i the validation mode and the error goes away.

Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00175

Hello,

we implemented in CME 7.5.2.7 the displaying of child attributes on the same page of products using the 'swe:include' tag in the swt's and everything was working fine.

Now we're planning to upgrade to CME 7.5.3.6, but we will not use the eCfg HI functionalities in the short term due to effort constrains.
In such situation, the change to swt done to display the attributes is not working anymore, producing the following error:
Customizable Product Runtime Internal Error in function CSSCfgUIService::GetAttributes. Error Dump: Got NOTOK.(SBL-CFG-00175).
In attach a sample template working in 7.5.2.7 and not working in 7.5.3.6 and a CP to reproduce the issue.
Just copy the template in the webtempl directory, import product, validate it and select product B.
The issue is urgent, because that could stop the deploy of 7.5.3.6 planned for friday.
Any suggestion on a way to overcome the problem really appreciated.

Regards

For the Benefit of Other Readers;

The above behvior was resolved by additing the UI Property called "MultiChildrenPort" and setting the value to the name of the relationship which contains the customized web templates that display's the child product and it's attribute on the same page.

CR 10478689 has been raised as a document enhancement request to provide more details on the MultiChildrenPort UI Property in future Siebel document releases.

This issue is reproducible using the attached TS CP1.

Steps to reproduce in 7.5.3.5 SIA

Create a product
Add a relationship
Add couple of attributes
Create a summary group theme
Do not add any UI control
Validate.
Error pop ups as:

Customizable Product Runtime Internal Error in function CSSCfgUIService::GetAttributes. Error Dump: Got NOTOK.(SBL-CFG-00175).

Please note that this error message can be seen in different models with a different method of the CSSCfgUIService, such as CfgGetChildren.

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of others:

It appears that the cause of this issue is the lack of a record in the BC [Complex Product Group Items BusComp].

This problem is not reproducible in 7.5.3 SIA, but is reproducible in 7.5.3.4 SIA and 7.5.3.5 SIA.

The issue has been logged as a change request 12-L17ZWG.
The issue can be worked around by adding a dummy record in the Group Items list applet. For example, once the problem is reproduced, simply add a control for either of the attributes or the relationship accepting a default UI Control (i.e. do not specify). After you add this dummy control, the product will validate without the error message.

Should you need further information, please feel free to contact Siebel Technical Support.

Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00175, SBL-UIF-00266

We have found a consistent error inolving the implementation of a UI property with "Template Products" in Siebel.

When we try to apply the MultiChildrenPort property to a UI Group with a relationship to a Product that is part of a Template Product and Class - weI get the following errors:

Applet: Cfg Cx Runtime Instance Frame does not have the Edit template file specified.(SBL-UIF-00266)

Or this error:

Customizable Product Runtime Internal Error in function CSSCfgUIService::GetAttributes. Error Dump: Got NOTOK.(SBL-CFG-00175)

We have many template products in our product catalogs, so this is a showstopper for upgrading to 7.5.3.4.

Solution

Message 1

For the Benefit of Other Readers:

Behavior:

1. Create a Class Product with relationships that uses the MultiChildrenPort UI property and customized web templates for UI Control.

2. Create a customizable product (CP) which uses the same class as No 1 so it inherits all the product, rules, templates, etc. of the class product.

3. When you validate the Class Product everything works fine and there are no error message even when you choose products from the relationship with MultiChildrenPort.

4. When you validate the CP of No 2 above and attempt to select the product from the relationship that uses MultiChildrenPort and custom web template, you get the following error:

"Applet: Cfg Cx Runtime Instance Frame does not have the Edit template file specified.(SBL-UIF-00266) "

We are having trouble with our eConfigurator API. We have created a workflow which is designed to add complex product to quotes. However, when we get to the create session method of the Complex Object Service Instance an error message appears:-
The session was not found in the cache. Please create it again with the lastest object instance [SBL_CFG-00172]. This does not happen for all product. Only the majority and we are unble to see any clear difference as to why one works and the others don't.

I have attached the workflow so you can see what we are trying to do.

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users, the customer resolves own issue after it was found that the 'LoadInstance' method of the Complex Object Service Instance has an output argument of 'CreateSession'. If the value of this argument is set to 'Y', the CreateSession method is required after LoadInstance. If this argument is set to 'N', they then skip this Method in the process.

Thanks,

Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00170

Users would like to change the verbiage for the Explanation that appears for Cardinality rule violations. For example, create a CP that has a sub-product Product A with minimum and default cardinality set to 1. Validate the CP and de-select Product A. The system displays the following error message:
"There is an error with your last request. You are below the minimum quantity of 1 for Product A. Please click the Undo button to undo your last request. (SBL-CFG-00170)"

Users cannot customize the out-of-the box generated error message. Moreover, users would like the ability to translate the error messages. The current workaround is to create a "requires" rule using the rules designer to customize the explanation.

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users:
Upon further research the conclusion is error messages are one of the things you cannot translate. The only way to get these messages translated is to purchase a language specific version of Siebel. So, for example, when you purchase the French version of Siebel, you get the .DLLs to enable French error/warning messages.

The workaround would be using a required rule built in the rules designer to customize the explanation.

The Change Request# 12-U4DBM0 has been logged to give users the ability to customize cardinality rule violations error messages.

Symptoms

Hi,

I have two problems when using RaiseErrorText in Customizable Product scripts.

1) I tried to use RaiseErrorText in the Cfg_AttributeChanged Method. Therefore I wrote a simple script:

function Cfg_AttributeChanged (ChangedAttribute)
{
   var item;
   var nCnt = ChangedAttribute.GetChildCount();
   for ( var i = 0; i<ChangedAttribute.GetChildCount(); i++ )
   {
      item = ChangedAttribute.GetChild(i);
      var attName = item.GetType();
      var oldV = item.GetProperty("OldVal");
      var newV = item.GetProperty("NewVal");

      if (newV.length > 5)
      {
        TheApplication().RaiseErrorText("Test der RaiseErrorText Methode in Cfg_AttributeChanged ! ");
      }
   }
   item = null;
}

I have defined a simple Attribute which is mapped as an EditBox in the User Interface. When editing the Attibut with a value greater than five characters I get the Errormessage "<?>. Weitere Details: <?>. (SBL-CFG-00170)" (please find attached errormessage.doc). I've also attached a Log-file "Cfg_AttributeChanged.log" with Log-Level 4.

In SupportWeb I found SR 38-1149262162 which describes the use of RaiseErrorText in the Cfg_AttributeChanged Methode. Considering this SR the use of RaiseErrorText in the eConfigurator-Scripts should work.

2) I also used RaiseErrorText in the Cfg_InstPostSynchronize Method. In this Method RaiseErrorText works fine. I get an Errormessage when leaving the eConfigurator. The problem is that I get a Siebel Errormessage (not a message box like the normal RaiseErrorText) as described in SR 38-1149262162. There is an CR in the SR for this issue. Is this functionality available in the meantime?

Best Regards

Message 1

For the benefit of other users:
This behavior has been reproduced in house and the Change Request# 10506618 has been raised to address it.

Following is a workaround that can be used to overcome this behavior:

There is a possible solution to address this in HI using Javascript code but due to the fact that changing Javascript code is not really supported you will need to engage Siebel Expert Services to address this.

The idea is to use SetProfileAttr() in CP event and check for the Profile Attribute in the javascript file, then use Alert() to pop up the message.

This approach will require assistance of Siebel Expert Services because the code in the Javascript file is very specific to the internal Siebel structure and can change with new versions (i.e. upgrades to 7.7/7.8./..)

Siebel Configurator Runtime - Version: 8.1.1 [21112] - Release: V8
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A complex product has a component product in a product type relationship which has a minimum cardinality of 1. There is also a constraint rule to limit the quantity of the component product. The constraint has a specific explanation text.

In configurator when no product is selected from the relationship then a correct warning message is displayed as follows:
“There is an error with your last request. You are below the minimum quantity of 1 for …. Please click the Undo button to undo your last request. (SBL-CFG-00170)”

When you select the Explanation button there is no further explanation. Why is the specific constraint explanation not displayed in configurator?

Cause

When you have both a cardinality rule and a constraint rule not satisfied at the same time for the same product relationship quantity then the cardinality rule is given priority. This is why the custom explanation is not displayed.

Solution

If you remove the cardinality rule from the product relationship then you will see the explanation message when the constraint rule is not satisfied.

If an order line item is created in one language via promotion, then it is not possible to customize it in another language. Please see steps to reproduce issue:

  • Create a Sales Order
  • Add promotion "TST Promotion" => This adds product "TST Root product" as well
  • Press "Customize" for "TST Root product"
  • In eConfigurator UI add "TST Component 1" product and press customize for it
    => shows an attribute with label "Translation2"
  • Now modify the product class of "TST Component 1"
  • Goto Administration - Product > Product Class
  • Lock class "Class_1" and drilldown to workspace
  • In Attribute sub view launch Menu > Translations for the attribute
  • Modify
    • from: ENU / Translation 2
    • to: ENU / Translation 1
  • Release class, Refresh Cache
  • Go to Sales Order again
  • Press Customize for "TST Root product" again
    ==> "There is a conflict with your last request. Please click the Undo button to undo your last request. For a detailed explanation of this conflict, please click the Explanation button. (SBL-CFG-00164)
    Explanation:  is excluded due to the promotion TST Promotion

This error can be reproduced with different languages or with upper tetstcase as well.

Cause

Based on the upper testcase it looks like promotion validation is using display name of the attribute name instead of the language independent code (LIC).

Solution

Technical Support was able to duplicate the described behavior and logged Bug 10593366 in order to address this product defect.

As a workaround please check following temporary approaches:

  • Do not use attribute conditions in promotion definitions
  • Do not translate attribute values

Parent CP, contains child CP - the relationship between parent and child has a default cardinality as 1 max 6, min 1.

In 7.5.3.3 this worked fine, but in 7.5.3.4 with our current product model implementation we are having issues with default cardinality - if this is set to 1, we get an error when pressing the customize button on an Order ( Screen Shot of error attached )

NB This error is not received during product validation, and after removing the default cardinality from the subscription relationship we are able to customize the product and add in the subscription manaully.

Please research in context of other HI Customization issues we are having refer to SR 38-1377925401 for product model, web templates, scripts etc.

When a new version of a customizable product is released, Auto Match adjusts the configuration of the product in a quote, asset, or order to reflect the changes. Auto Match is disabled by default.

For Web Client users, you turn Auto Match on by setting its server parameter to TRUE.

Server Parameter for Auto Match:

Parameter Name: eProdCfgAutoMatchInstance
Display Name: Product Configurator - auto match quote on reconfigure.
Data Type: Boolean
Default Value: FALSE
Description: When set to FALSE, Auto Match is turned off. When set to TRUE, Auto Match is turned on.

Symptoms

The following behaviour is observed when upgrading promotions and using eConfigurator constraints based on product attributes, which are also constrained by the promotion:
The product cannot be customized if the new promotion excludes an attribute value that is required by a component product which is part of the installed asset.
To reproduce, make sure that asset based ordering is enabled.
Create customizable product "Product A" with an enumerated attribute like this:
* Product A
o Attribute A
- Value 1
- Value 2
o Relationship 1
- Product B
- Product C
Create two rules:
* Product B requires Attribute A = Value 1
* Product C requires Attribute A = Value 2
Create two promotions:
* Create Promotion A with “Track as Asset” set. Add Product A under Products – Components. Click Product A. Create attribute constraint: Attribute 1 includes Value 1 (so Value 2 violates the promotion). Release promotion.
* Create Promotion B with “Track as Asset” set. Add Product A under Products – Components. Click Product A. Create attribute constraint: Attribute 1 includes Value 2 (so Value 1 violates the promotion). Add Promotion A under Upgrade tab so Promotion B may serve as an upgrade. Release promotion.
Create quote for an account, add Product A within Promotion A. Click Customize. Value 2 for Attribute A and Product C are excluded due to the promotion and the constraints. Add Product B to the solution.
Create assets from quote items.
Select Promotion A under the account’s installed assets and click Upgrade Promotion in applet menu. Select Promotion B and click OK.
=> The application goes to Quotes > List > Line Items > Totals, showing a new quote with line items:
Product A with
Promotion = Promotion B, Action = Update
Component for product "Product B", Action = -
Promotion A, Action = Delete
Promotion B, Action = Add

Select the line item for product "Product A" and click on Customize.
=> eConfigurator Warning comes up with the following message:
Product - Product A Extended Attribute Modified <b>Promotion Violation. THe following Product or Attribute is no longer part of the promotion.<b> : Extended Attribute - Attribute 1; Old Value = Value 1; New Value = Value 2

Click OK
=> eConfigurator UI comes up, showing conflict message:
There is a conflict with your last request. Please click the Undo button to undo your last request.
For a detailed explanation of this conflict, please click the Explanation button.(SBL-CFG-00164)

Only the following buttons are active:
Undo
Explanation

Click Explanation.
=> Explanation:
Value 1 is excluded due to the promotion Promotion B.

Click OK.
=> The explanation is removed.

As the Proceed button is disabled, the user can only click Undo.
=> The application goes back to Quotes > List > Line Items > Totals.
Go to the Attributes sub view and check.
=> The line item for product "Product A" still has attribute "Attribute 1" with value "Value 1".

The same behaviour is observed with all possible values for UI Property "GoalMode" in product "Product A".

So the product cannot be customized.

Cause

The conflict is caused by the require constraints. When starting eConfigurator, it tries to justify promotion constraints by replacing Value 2 with Value 1 for Attribute A. At this time, Product B is still part of the solution. This raises a conflict message. However, the engine tries to change Attribute A back to Value 1 instead of removing Product B.

This is a product defect and the following Change Request has been created to request that this be fixed in a future version of the Siebel application:
Product Defect BUG 10587912 - Upgrade Promotion creates conflicting quote item that is not customizable

Note that any fix provided in the area of Product Configurator/Promotion Integration applies to the particular test case for which the Change Request has been logged. In general there should not be a promotion constraint and a Customizable Product rule (CP rule) on the same entity.

Solution

There is no workaround except adhering to the guidelines from My Oracle Support Note 560085.1 (Limitation Of Configurator Promotion Constraint Rule Integration), which are still valid especially for asset-based ordering:

1. If possible please stay away from using CP rule and promotion CP rule at the same time. Use only either one of them.
2. If that is not working, avoid defining promotion and CP rule on the same entity.
3. If that's inevitable, users have to live with the behavior where some selection might throw an promotion conflict where they can only undo. The chance of such conflicts can be reduced by defining promotion default on these port/attribute and/or its child if they are involved in CP rule as well, and also by not using promotion constraints to exclude default product from domain product possibly added by preference rule.

seen in 7.8.1.14.

A Business Component Based attribute has been defined using a VBC.
After selecting a value from the pick applet the context in the eConfigurator UI was lost and below error message is displayed:

There is a conflict with your last request. Please click the Undo button to undo yur last request
For a detailed explanation of this conflict, please click the Explanation button.(SBL-CFG-00164)

Please note that this was not the conflict page of the eConfigurator UI.

Cause

It turned out that underlying attribute definiton was Text, Enumerated.
If changed to Text, Freeform the pick applet worked as expected.

Comments:

That Business Component Based attributes do not work together with enumerated attributes can be seen in much simpler cases as well but symptoms are different. If a 1 level product structure is used the icon to show the pick applet will not be displayed. Instead you see the down arrow which lists the values from the attribute definiton.

In the current case for the attributes where displayed with attribute inline display and in this case the icons for the popups were rendered.

Solution

need to change underlying attribute definitions, constraints referring to related values need to be crosschecked as well.

Symptoms

We are trying to use the Cfg_OnConflict event to automatically respond to _certain_ conflicts. In Cfg_OnConflict, I was attempting to know what conflict caused the event to be triggered by comparing the value of the Explanation parameter (passed in) with the value I had set in the Explanation column for some rule. This was not working so I used TheApplication().RaiseErrorText(...) to dump the Explanation parameter to the screen. The contents of that is:

<b>There is a conflict with your last request.</b> Please click the Undo button to undo your last request. <br> For a detailed explanation of this conflict, please click the Explanation button.(SBL-CFG-00164)

This seems to be a canned explanation from Siebel. I was expecting to have what I had set in the Explanation column for the rule. So I'm assuming that this will be in the Explanation parameter for all rules. Is there a way then to tell what conflict caused the Cfg_OnConflict event?

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users:

Customer's requirement was to determine the rule that caused a conflict in the CFG_OnConflict event. The CFG_OnConflict event has an Explanation argument that is passed. The expected behavior was that this 'Explanation' argument would have the Explanation specified in the 'Explanation field ' by the user in the Rule.

However it was found that the 'Explanation' argument was a system generated message and not the user defined Explanation. The Bookshelf also states that the 'CFG_OnConflict's 'Explanation' argument 'Passes in the system message explaining the conflict'.

Technical Support reproduced the behavior and has logged Change Request#12-I4ZT97 to provide the user-defined explanation instead of the system-generated one when a conflict happens.

This is a follow-up SR of #38-2902810351 where the customer is experiancing the following.

They are on V7.8.2 and were trying load attr_id on S_ASSET_XA table. However, as per CR #10480570, ATTR_ID is not a required column and hence the customer was suggested to leave this column as null. However, the customer claims that whey try to modify an asset having attributes through Product Configurator and if there is no value in column ATTR_ID, they are getting the following error

"The item that you are trying to customize contains invalid sub-items are attributes or does not comply with the corresponding customizable product definition. Do you wish to proceed and have the invalid selections removed or fixed? (SBL-CFG-00163)"

Solution

Message 1

Summary:

Customer imported assets with EIM because they came from a legacy system.

Trying to load attr_id on S_ASSET_XA table per EIM was not possible. However, as per CR #10480570, ATTR_ID is not a required column and hence the customer was suggested to leave this column as null.

When trying to modify an asset having attributes through Product Configurator and if there is no value in column ATTR_ID, eConfigurator changes the attribute values of the asset. If you have rules then this could lead to a conflict and error message:

Symptoms

Customer has a 3-tier product hierarchy, which involves 3 product (Root product P1, child product P2, and grnadchild product P3), while all the migrated assets are in 2-tier structure. On these assetsP3 was placed on the second tier.

Each time when the eConfigurator was activated, a delete action will be applied on the P3 asset.

When customizing the migrated assets, a warning dialog appears before it goes into customization screen. The message is like "pp product -.... ; pp relationship - ...; pp deleted".

How can this be solved?

Solution

When clicking on Customize for one of the affected assets the following errors would come up ("..." stands for Chinese characters):

1. Error view:
pp ... - LAN pp...: ... = ;
pp...: ... = 1
pp...: ... = 1
pp... pp...: ... = 1
pp... pp...: ... = 1

2. Product Configurator UI with annotations:
... - "LAN"     Root Asset's Product Name
... *...     Relationship "P2 Asset's Product Name"
... - "..."     Product - "P3 Asset's Product Name"
...: ... =;     Relationship: Identity = ;
...: ... "..." ... = 1     Deleted: Belong Object "P3 Asset's Product Name" number = 1
..., ...     The item that you are trying to customize contains invalid sub-items or attributes or does not comply with the corresponding customizable product definition.
...? (SBL-CFG-00163)       Do you wish to proceed and have the invalid selections removed or fixed? (SBL-CFG-00163)

The customer already updated each asset's PAR_ASSET_ID with the new, correct parent asset's ROW_ID through a custom built VB program. However to eliminate this error the following steps must be taken:

(1) A call to AutoMatch should be built into the relevant workflow processes and this should populate the ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID and PORT_VALID_PROD_ID as required.

For more information about the AutoMatch method please refer to:
Siebel Order Management Guide Addendum for Industry Applications > Business Service Methods Reference > Complex Product AutoMatch Business Service Method

Note: This call is built out of the box into the standard workflow processes in Siebel v7.7 and higher like SIS OM Edit Complex Asset Workflow, SIS OM Edit Delta Quote Line Item or SIS OM Edit Service Order Line Item

(2) Suggestion under 1) works properly only on product hierarchies with 2 levels. It fails for product hierarchies with 3 levels. The following change request has been created to address this in a future version of the Siebel application:
12-CQQG3Q: CP runtime: Auto Match does not work when the customizable product contains nested CPs. This is addressed in Siebel version 7.8.2.7 and higher. The workaround is fill following columns for all assets except the root assets:
S_ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID and S_PORT_VALID_PROD_ID
--- > The customer still needed to populate the ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID column (i.e. field 'Product Port Id') and the S_PORT_VALID_PROD_ID column (i.e. field 'Prod Item Id') in each child asset.

Note: AutoMatch functionality also works if you fill the 'ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID' and 'PORT_VALID_PROD_ID' with a dummy value, e.g. with the string 'Dummy'. Change Request 12-CQQG3Q only applies to assets where the 'ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID' and 'PORT_VALID_PROD_ID' are null.

Note: Following two conditions must also be fulfilled for the AutoMatch and Customize functions to work properly:

(4) AutoMatch may fail if there is a visibility mismatch between the business component used in the user interface and the business component used in the SIS OM Edit * workflow process.
=> Make sure that an S_ASSET_POSTN record exists for the logged-in user who is calling the SIS OM Edit * workflow process.

(5) For a root asset, column CFG_TYPE_CD must have value = 'eConfigurator'.
=> If this is not the case, the way to fix this would be to create a Siebel VB script that will update the corresponding field ("Cfg Type") in all your root assets.

Note: Change Request 10453144 has been addressed in 7.8.2.7. However it has not addressed the case when the data is loaded via EIM. In this situation the workarounds described still need to be applied. Enhancement request 10541653 has been raised for this to addressed in a future release.

When I verify the problem order 168-44232 the application hangs and fills the event log file.

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users,

When customer clicked on Verify command on an order it resulted in an application hang. This can be reproduced with an order item, which is a promotion over a customized product (CP). CP and promotion have a constraint which contradict each other.

Looking into the log it shows an error on CreateSession:
ObjMgrLog    Error    1    0    2007-08-06 15:07:06    SBL-CFG-00163: The item that you are trying to customize contains invalid sub-items or attributes or does not comply with the corresponding customizable product definition. Do you wish to proceed and have the invalid selections removed or fixed?

The system calls
- Business Service 'Configurator Session Service' invoke method 'GetDetailedReqExpl'
- Business Service 'Configurator Session Service' invoke method: 'RemoveFailedRequests'

After this function we run into the endless loop.

The error could be reproduced with a script running BatchValidate on version 7.8.2.6 SIA:

1) CP has attributes defined and a rule which says:
When the attribute Price Type = Variable excludes the attribute Price Term < 100

2) Promotion has additional settings on the attributes
Price Type = Variable
Price Term = 12

---> this is an unresolvable conflict. Add the promotion to an order and customize the underlying CP. eConfigurator throws an error and you need to push Undo button and leave it. We created change request#12-1KNZ65Y. The problem looks like a wrong internal coding.

There is no workaround for this issue. An administrator can only avoid this error by testing promotions via test scenarios before releasing them for production.

Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00163

We have configured our products as Customizable and each one has a dynamic relation defined which links the current product to others (subproducts).

We use “Customize” button on Assets to define the asset’s subassets this way.

In the production environment we have inserted Assets with each one’s subassets using VB and Siebel Com interface (sstchca.dll) and we observe the following serious behavior:

We see asset’s components (SubAssets) in the Components Applet, we also see them correctly when we click Customize,

but when we click Save or Done and save the Asset record the Subassets are deleted !

This behavior is not observed for newly created assets.

What is different from the development environment where we tested the migration process is that the products were manually inserted and configured.

Then we exported fully the dev/env products and imported them in the production environment using Import Product.

We have released new version of the products but the problem still occurs.

We have checked columns PORT_VALID_PROD_ID and ASSEMBLY_PORT_ID in subasset records and they contain the same values as the newly inserted asset’s subassets.

How can we fix the problem in our data so that the process of configuring imported assets behaves correctly, which means recognizing the already imported subassets as part of the configuration of the product and prevent deleting them ?

We attach the product current configuration

Solution

Message 1

I’d like to correct some information I’ve given you in y previous email.

The problem of deleting subassets is observed for new assets also when we try to “Customize” them.

The only way to avoid it is to click customize for newly created assets, click Done, Save the asset record and click on customize again to proceed with Subasset definition.

I also attach some server log files that were created during clicking the “Customize” button, Saving the asset record and inserting a new one.

Message 2

For the benefit of other users:

The log files showed the following significant difference:

In the log file where the error occurred:
1. The NewRecord and WriteRecord events take place in the Asset Mgmt - Asset Detail Applet.
2. In the INSERT INTO SIEBEL.S_ASSET a single column is missing: CFG_TYPE_CD.

In the log file for correct asset insertion and customization:
1. The NewRecord and WriteRecord events take place in the Asset Mgmt - Asset List Applet. In the call stacks there are additional calls to functions in CSSSWEFrameListQuoteItem - this is the specialized applet class for the list applet.
2. In the INSERT INTO SIEBEL.S_ASSET, column CFG_TYPE_CD is inserted with value = 'eConfigurator'.

Thus, from the user actions the only difference is that the asset was created in the form applet instead of the list applet.

The behaviour can be reproduced the behaviour in the Sample database:
When using the form applet to create a new asset, the asset's field Cfg Type is not filled. When trying to customize the asset afterwards, the following error message is displayed:
SBL-CFG-00163:
The item that you are trying to customize contains invalid sub-items or attributes or does not comply with the corresponding customizable product definition. Do you wish to proceed and have the invalid selections removed or fixed?

... continued in next update

Message 3

continued from previous update ...

In this case button "Proceed" is active, but button "Undo" is inactive.
However, the application's Back button will take the user back to the All Assets view and the asset is unchanged - the corresponding log file shows no DELETE.

Change Request 12-17ZNCBF has been created to request that this be fixed in a future version of the Siebel application.

In the mean time, assets for customizable products must be created in the Asset Mgmt - Asset List Applet only.

Kind regards from

Symptoms

Hi.
I hope you can help me remove an error message when entering the selection pages from the order module.

I have defined a rule on a product: The attribute Fremføringsnummer = FremføringsnummerLink, where Fremføringsnummer is an attribute and FremføringsnummerLink is a linked item from order line.

This rule works fine for newly created line items, but if I reconfigure, so that the value of FremføringsnummerLink is changed, I get the following message:
"The item that you are trying to customize contains invalid sub-items or attributes or does not comply with the corresponding customizable product definition. Do you wish to proceed and have the invalid selections removed or fixed?(SBL-CFG-00163)"
Explanation:
Linked Item : FremføringsnummerLink = 9999
Kopiere Fremf (the name of the rule)

(FremføringsnummerLink works fine and shows the correct value in the selection page)

After I click "Proceed" in the error window, I get to the normal selection page, and everything works fine.

How can I obtain the desired functionality without getting the error message in advance?

I have also tried these rules:(as suggested in Service Request #: 38-971800651):
- Fremføringsnummer has an initial value of FremføringsnummerLink (Result: same error message as explained above)
- When possible, constrain the attribute Fremføringsnummer = FremføringsnummerLink to be true with a priority of 0 (Result: No error message, but the value of the linked item is not copied into the attribute).

Solution

Message 1

For the Benefit of Other Readers:

Behavior:

1 Create a customizable product. Add an attribute, Fremforingsnummer; and Linked Item called FremforingsnummberLink based on the Comments field in the Quote Item Form applet; And the Set Preference Rule: :When possible, constrain the attribute Fremforingsnummer = FremforingsnummerLink to be true with a priority of 0.
2 Create a Sales Order and add the CP. In the Comments field in the Order Entry - Line Item Form Applet, key in some value say "XYZ". and hit the customize button.
3 In the selection page, both attribute Fremforingsnummer & Linked Item FremforingsnummberLink have a value of "XYZ". Hit the Done button
4. Change the value in the Comments field to "ABCD". Hit the customize button.
5. Attribute Fremforingsnummer still says "XYZ" (from step 2) It should be "ABCD" from Step 4. The Linked Item FremforingsnummberLink have a value of "ABCD" from step 4 which is correct.

In 7.5.2.217 SIA, this does not happen! In step 5, the attribute Fremforingsnummer says "ABCD" which is correct.

Resolution:

The above behavior was determined to be a product defect and Change Request 12-L7F8M7 has been submitted to address it.

Hi,

Our eConfigurator is giving validation errors with Date attributes. When selecting the Date (our ESN deployment supports a dd/mm/yyy) as European Format gives Error1 (see attachments). When selecting the Date Attribute as American Format gives Error2 (see attachments).

Can you please indicate further steps in order to resolve the issue?

Regards
Sebastián Hormaeche

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users:

The issue encountered has to do with Date Fields’ behaviour with Standard Interactivity User Interface (UI) in eConfigurator. To reproduce the issue create a product with a Date attribute, create a Standard Interactivity UI and set the Date settings to dd/mm/yyyy.

- Introduce 17/10/2007 => error: 10/17/2007 is not a valid value for Date_Attribute.(SBL-CFG-00162)
- Introduce 10/17/2007 => expected behaviour: the value '10/17/2007' cannot be converted to a date time value.(SBL-DAT-00359)

Change request #12-1LMFG3A was logged to address this issue.

A possible workaround is to use High Interactivity UI for the product, as the issue does not occur in this type of interface.

SBL-BPR-00162: Error invoking service '<?>', method '<?>' at step '<?>'.

Cause

The behavior reported was considered a Product Defect BUG 10576833

According to engineering review, the business component code currently validates the attribute value for the "value" & "previous value" fields. However, if as is the case in this scenario, the attribute value is removed from the enumerated list, then on modification of the asset, an error is thrown when attempting to save the value in the previous value field. However, since previous value field is used to provide historical data, the validation is not required.

Solution

The fix included in the 8.1.1.2 Fix Pack.

For other versions, please log a Service Request in order to start the Fix Request process.

Symptoms

SBL-CFG-00159

We changed the Product Names of 3 products while keeping their ROW_ID’s on S_PROD_INT intact.

They were then re-arranged in the Product Designer. Two of them, Wireless IntERstate LD and Wireless IntRAstate LD, were removed from the relationship (domain type = class) BeyondMobile Voice Features and then readded with their new product names, Mobile IntERstate LD and Mobile IntRAstate LD. Both of these products are required and there should be only one of each.

The third product was called Wireless International LD and was in the relationship (domain type = product) Wireless International LD. This product was renamed to Mobile International LD and is now part of the relationship Mobile International LD (domain type = product). This product has cardinality of 1 max, 1 min, 1 default. I believe the relationship record was deleted and a new one created with the name Mobile International LD.

Cardinality and quantity rules are no longer working. Customizing the service instance that was created and the order completed BEFORE releasing this new version of the customizable product is now adding a duplicate of these products that already exist. For some reason it doesn't see that they are already there and it adds another one. Customizing a new service instance that was completed AFTER releasing this new version is NOT adding duplicates of these products.

I did a comparison of the database records on S_ORDER_ITEM for a service element that was created before and after the new version of the customizable product was released. The PROD_IDs remained the same, however I noticed that the PORT_VALID_PROD_ID and PROD_PORT_ID values are different. When I update the records that were created BEFORE the new version with the PORT_VALID_PROD_ID and PROD_PORT_ID values that are on the records created AFTER releasing the new version, and then I customize the Service Instance, the duplicates are not created.

For example I updated the old record to have the new v...

Solution

Message 1

For the benefit of other users:

A sub-product was used in a CP model in one product-type relationship (minimum cardinality = 1) and in several (at least 1) class-type relationships (no minimum cardinality).
The CP was added to a sales order associated to an account and made into an asset. The asset showed the sub-product with a quantity of 1, coming from the product-type relationship.
The sub-product name was then changed and the product-type relationship pointing to it was deleted from the CP’s product designer before a new one was created back with type = product. A new CP version was released.

At this point, the asset was modified from the account customer portal, thus bringing a warning message indicating the model change when entering the configuration pages.
When auto-match repaired the sub-product from the now missing relationship, it picked the first relationship the sub-product belonged to, which in this case ended up being the class-type relationship. This is an undetermined behavior though and in some other CP models, auto-match could pick the product-type relationship. That is why, among other reasons, we generally recommend having sub-products belong to only one relationship.

Continuing on, when there was at least one active rule in the CP’s model (related or not to the sub-product), the eCFG engine directly added a new line item with an action type of Add.
[...]

Message 2

[...]
When there was no active rule, it did not add the sub-product but instead showed a red star in the selection pages indicating the missing required sub-product.
This is the subject of CR# 12-1HC2FI1. The customer always had rules so this was not an issue for them though.

Then, when the environment variable PRESERVE_ENGINE_AND_USER_PICKS was set to N (the eCFG engine treats every product selection equally, i.e. as a user pick), the pre-existing line item’s action code stayed unchanged as “–“.
When the variable was set to Y, eCFG considered the initial sub-product selection as an engine pick so it dropped it and set the pre-existing line item’s action code to Delete.

Changing product’s name is an essential part of the customer’s requirement/business. Instead of modifying the product name field, the customer was advised to use a custom field as a display name for the product name so the product name itself would not change and stay stable, which ultimately prevents the above confusion in the first place.

Thank you,
