Symptoms

SBL-DAT-00444

Hello Tech Support,

within our Siebel7.7 application I found a strange LoV configuration (we did an upgrade from Siebel7.5.3 to 7.7.2 before).

The LoV entry “LINK_VISIBILITY_RULE_LOV” has a German translation for the display value. So you can pick the German value within tools to configure a link.

Error occurs when you pick the German value.

I changed the display values to “Never” and “Always” as in SampleDB.

I think this fixes our issue. What do you think about it?

Thanks
Nils Probson

For the benefit of other readers:

The LOVs used by Tools should be marked as non-translatable, i.e. the Translate check box should not be ticked, as any LOVs used by Tools should only use the ENU values. The default installed values are "Never" and "Always" as shown in the Sample Database. If these values are not used then the following error message will appear in the Object Manager log file when the client is started:

SBL-DAT-00444: 'VisRuleApplied' is not a valid value for property 'Test' link definition 'Account/Contact'.

The Visibility Rule Applied LOV is not bounded so it is possible to type in values into the field rather than selecting a value from the picklist.

CR#12-17AZ1JH has been logged to address the fact that the Visibility Rule Applied LOV is not bounded allowing invalid values to be typed in resulting in the SBL-DAT-00444 error message.

A related CR#12-DVUX3L has also been logged requesting that the error message is rephrased to say that Property "Test" is not a valid value for "VisRuleApplied" rather than the other way around.

Symptoms

"OM - Preload SRF Data"=True for unshipped language AOM on Solaris casues the Siebel application to fail.

Behavior can be replicated as follows:
- Install SIA8.1.1 on Solaris with ENU language pack
- Configured SKY unshipped language
- Imported SKY strings into the DB (based on LMU export of ENU strings)
- Started both ENU and SKY applications using OM - Preload SRF Data set to False
> Both applications start fine
- Changed OM -Preload SRL Data to True for both SCCObjMgr_enu and SCCObjMgr_sky components
- Restarted both comps
> ENU application starts fine whereas SKY application fails with the following type of errors in AOM log file:

Changes

"OM - Preload SRF Data"=True

Cause

Behavior has been logged as Bug 12-1ZO061J (OM - Preload SRF Data parameter for unshipped languages).

Solution

The behavior has been logged as Bug 12-1ZO061J (OM - Preload SRF Data parameter for unshipped languages).

The current workaround is to set the OM - Preload SRF Data parameter to False for unshipped langauge AOMs.

Fix is expected to be introduced in FP8.1.1.5.

Note that the behavior cannot be replicated for Siebel Server running on Windows platforms
